Production of 1956 Fords began on October 17, 1955. The basic styling and engineering features of the big Fords, this time consisting of 18 models, remained mostly unchanged except for the usual updates expected for a new model year. Incidentally, while the big Fords looked all-new for 1955, they were in reality heavily reworked versions of the 1952-1954 body design, though with a new chassis.
